A portrait of Laura Salter

Laura Salter

Digital Strategist at Kick Point.

I’m a project lead, copywriter and strategist spending my days at a cozy digital agency in Edmonton, Canada.

My evenings are spent scoping out new ice cream shops, eating pizza, and rereading Harry Potter for the 30th time.

I started my career as an account manager for a digital creative agency. This involved mainly keeping tasks organized and handling client communication. A year later, I moved into doing web strategy (IA, UX strategy) and copywriting. I found myself naturally leading projects and unofficially doing project management over my remaining three years at that agency.

After that, I spent a year doing marketing in-house at continuing education organization. Then I happily ended up at Kick Point. I’m now responsible for a variety of strategy tasks, including website IA, SEO, copywriting, brand voice guidelines and more.

Kick Point runs on a project lead system. Every project has two project leads assigned. I have, again, naturally gravitated towards handling client communication and task management.

I also help with writing proposals/project agreements.

I’m looking forward to gaining some more formal knowledge of what digital project management looks like so I can help make our projects more consistent and more successful. I also hope to get a better handle on managing my own time on projects.
